Our Wood

Canadian Alpine Larch (Larix occidentalis)

The Canadian Mountain Larch is a coniferous tree species that is predominantly found in the northwestern mountain region (Wet Belt) of Canada. It grows in the mountain ranges of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and is mainly found at higher elevations.

The Canadian Mountain Larch is characterised by its high resistance to extreme weather and soil conditions.

For this reason, Canadian Mountain Larch can also be used as a successful substitute for products made from Siberian larch.

Canadian Alpine Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca)

Canadian Rocky Mountain Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca) is found primarily in the northern regions of Thompson Valley, British Columbia, and the northern area along Adams Lake.

Canadian Rocky Mountain Douglas fir is not only known for its excellent strength properties, but also for its good outdoor durability. The frequently used European standard EN 350-2 classifies mountain Douglas fir as moderately durable (3). Rocky Mountain Douglas fir generally has a density of around 560 kg/m3.

We obtained our cut lumber from the best growing areas in Siberia – the Krasnojarskiy Krai and the Irkutskiy Oblast. The saw mills of our long-time supply partners were located in the large wood growing and producing sites of Siberia – along the rivers Angara and Jenissei – in the heart of the incomparable nature of the Siberian taiga.

The compliance to EU Trade Regulation (EUTR) by our suppliers was attentively monitored.

Characteristics and use of Siberian larch

Cut Siberian larch has a relatively high gross density. Its hardness and and dimensional stability are far superior to other softwood types. Due to the long and very cold winters and, consequently, the short vegetation period, Siberian larch is characterized by its high natural durability.

Siberain larch can be used  without additional chemical wood protection for many usages – even outdoors.

Our product line

Nordic Spruce (Picea abies)

The wood of the nordic spruce (picea abies) is one of the most frequently used wood types in Europe because of its  excellent workability. The the growth areas in forests of Karelia provide an exceptionally high quality of lumber. The climatic conditions in this region provide wood with a very delicate growth ring structure. Additionally, the wood is characterized by being knot-free and soundly structured.

Nordic Pine (Pinus Sylvestris)

The cold climate, long winters with temperatures below 40° celsius and relatively short vegetation periods are the prime factors for the exceptionally high-grade wood quality. Therefore, the wood of the nordic pine (pinus sylvestris) from this region is characterized by very homogeneous and delicate structures, along with attractive graining with solidly and healthily grown knots. For these reasons, nordic pine is not only used as planed lumber and for construction purposes. Its decorative properties also cause the wood to be very popular for the production of windows and furniture and for the use in interior design.
